Announcing New Web-based Training: Introduction to Land Use Modeling and Forecasting Using Cube Land

Manhan Group, LLC is pleased to announce a new web-based training course focused on Cube Land, to be held on May 24-26, 2021, in three 90-minute sessions from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Eastern US Time (8:00 AM to 9:30 AM Pacific). This course will cover all aspects of building and using land use models based upon the bid-rent framework originally developed at the University of Chile in Santiago as MUSSA, and later commercialized as Cube Land, including:

  • Foundations of bid-rent theory;
  • Mathematical structure of Cube Land;
  • Data collection and QA/QC;
  • Bid-rent function parameter estimation techniques;
  • Model calibration and validation; and
  • Land use forecasting best practices.

Colby M. Brown, CEO and founder of Manhan Group LLC, will serve as lead instructor. Mr. Brown has developed over 20 land use models based upon the bid-rent framework implemented in Cube Land across the United States. From 2008 to 2010 he was global Training Director for Citilabs, the company that originally released Cube Land and was later acquired by Bentley Systems. Manhan Group is a Bentley Product Training Partner, authorized to provide Cube training services to software users and customers in North America.

The course registration fee is US $1,500, payable prior to May 24th, and includes access to archived recordings of the proceedings as well as a library of curriculum materials for offline study, such as working examples with data and exercises to test and practice the skills you have learned. Attendees who complete all exercises successfully (demonstrated by submitting their finished data and/or scripts to the instructor) will be eligible to receive training certification from the Bentley Institute.
